Is there a word in Sri Lanka for Jesus Christ or god (Christians god) and also, for church (not temple)?
Thank you for your help. Could you also provide the pronunciation for me?
Thank you.
Maggie

God is "Deviyang" or "Deviyo" or "Deviyanay".

I don't really have a problem with english. English is my first language, even though I'm sinhalese, but I find it difficult to translate sinhalese to english. So I'm not sure which version of God you can use, though I think all of them mean the same thing, Deviyo might be the plural form..."Gods". When I'm speaking sinhalese though, I don't seem to have a problem Laughing

Jesus is "Jesu". God bless you is pretty much; "Jesu pii tai"

Church is Pal-liya
